Around the time we were recording the tracks for Sticks And Stones, we were also busy playing for our fans in clubs all up and down the West Coast. Two of our favorite ones were right here in California — The Wild Blue Yonder in Fresno (for which I affectionately titled a song that we played there on numerous occasions) and DK’s in San Luis Obispo. These first two tracks come from a DK’s show that our brilliant house sound engineer Shalom Aberle happened to capture on tape sometime in 1988. We played Do It For Love at nearly every show from the time it was written, but I was shocked to discover that we’d been performing Nowhere Else as well. I don’t recall us playing it on stage more than two or three times, but judging from the quality of this performance, we must have spent a good deal of time rehearsing if not performing it. I’m also glad that Shalom managed to get this fairly good version of Do It For Love on tape. With all the bootlegs, snippets and various acoustic band and solo versions that have appeared over the years, this is the first official live release of the original band performing it.
